This Love - Maroon 5

Genre: (as of year 2005 - pop-rock)
Album: Songs about Jane

While not one of my favorite songs or anything, I come across many maroon 5 songs while drumming. The first few times I heard This Love, the stuff that stuck most in my head were the bass line and the rather humorous but nice sounding harmonizing vocals in the ending choruses.

Anyway, for now I shall simply comment on what this song means to me, and I don't mean lyrically. I feel, that this song can be played in practically any style; from rock to jazz to afro-cuban. It just has so much room to operate with, and a very strong groove going from the bass line and guitar. It's really an awesome song for beginners to play, and get those creative juices flowing. What I like to do is add even more bass drum notes but accent the proper ones, and just take note of certain parts of the song where the original drum groove/fill is very suitable for transition etc. An example of this is from the bridge back to the chorus (Cos I know that's what you want me to do) - on the "to do" its just a 3 note phrase; 4 and e on the snare and a on the tom. So go around doing crazy fills throughout the bridge then just like have a whole note on want or something then do the fill for "to do" heheh.

Any questions bout the song feel free to ask MStick by a) commenting b) asking Gaby to ask MStick by commenting c) email at surfzrup@gmail.com for now.

In a rush, hope this was ... at least a bit entertaining and somewhat educational. I'll add more to the post in future.
